Summary:
  • On-demand mobility has emerged as a key direction for innovation in urban transportation services. Service models such as ride-hailing, demand-responsive transport (DRT), shared mobility, and Mobility as a Service (MaaS) are reshaping the organization of supply, operational mechanisms, and governance structures of transportation systems. Compared with traditional systems, on-demand mobility is characterized by highly dynamic demand, real-time supply-demand matching, diversified service modes, and platform-oriented operations, posing significantly more complex challenges for operations management and system optimization. There is a growing need for systematic research on on-demand mobility systems, including demand dynamics, passenger and driver behavior, dynamic dispatching and fleet management, pricing and incentive mechanisms, multi-modal coordination, as well as platform regulation and service equity. In particular, with the rapid development of MaaS and autonomous driving technologies, the organization and operations management of on-demand mobility systems have become an important interdisciplinary research area at the intersection of transportation engineering, operations research, and artificial intelligence. This session aims to provide a platform for exchanging recent advances in theory, methodology, and applications related to on-demand mobility. It seeks to promote innovative research and practical solutions for the development of next-generation urban mobility systems.
